I expected it to rain today. Well, my expectation was mostly based on the weather network’s report, and I was ready for it. I recently bought this rain jacket I was so excited to wear especially since it is a must for Raincouver (AKA Vancouver). and I have been so terribly brave facing the rain with no hood (or umbrella) for the last several months, but sometimes you don’t have to face the rain alone, sometimes all you need is the right jacket. To my surprise, the sun decided to push the clouds away and pull through for us Vitamin D deficient folk, a welcome warmth in the middle of October.
If you read my blogs and you ever want to take any piece of advice from me, it would be to not ride high on expectations. Keep expectations at a low simmer, just like your early morning tea on the stove. Sometimes, it’s practical to have expectations for certain situations or people in our lives, otherwise we wouldn’t know what it means to set standards, have boundaries, or protect our inner peace. But sometimes, expectations only limit you to a certain throught process or mindset, and in turn may push you into a scenario that you’ve never prepared yourself for.
I know what it feels like to feel defeated, betrayed, rejected, and hurt. When I look back, most of these lingering feelings still exist due to my expectations. If I didn’t step into situations with the mindset of an already designed outcome, then I would feel less attached to the dream and more prepared for the reality. And I’m really not trying to be negative here, just realistic.
And on that note, I took my mom to this new cafe called, C’est Si Bon, in West Vancouver without any expectations of what the coffee and pastries would taste like. It was so good. 😉 I ordered a regular latte with vanilla syrup and my mom ordered the Americano. This French inspired patisserie was just what we needed on this beautiful sunny day. Here are some photos below:

Side note, if you’ve been following my blog then you might remember my broken-heartedness when all the Sunny Almond Vanilla pods at Nespresso were sold out. Well, it happened again. I ended up really liking the Maple Pecan flavoured pods and they are no longer available. Nespresso, why are you messing with me?
If you read this and have cafes which you recommend to visit in Vancouver, let me know!
Your everyday girl,
Sara
