I open the cupboard door, reach over to grab a pod from the Voltesso sleeve, but to my dismay, I come up empty-handed. That’s my fault, really; I should have probably thrown out the empty box, and now I’m left trying to figure out what other available pods I should try. My dear readers, if you’ve been following me, then you’ll know I’ve had problems with Nespresso in the past as I have compiled some trust issues with them. Our relationship hit rock bottom with how Nespresso became enemy #1, and even after giving them another chance, I was hurt by Nespresso once more. Do I go for a third chance?
Let’s come back to the present. I’m staring at a sleeve with espresso pods in them, and this one is a double espresso called Dolce. Do I risk potentially tainting my taste buds with this pod I have yet to try, or do I skip it and drink tea instead? There’s an inner voice that interrupts my thought process: “Don’t be boring, tea isn’t fun. You want caffeine.” My inner voice isn’t wrong. There is no greater drink than coffee in the morning; it’s a holistic experience that I have grown to love and need. Watching the coffee work its magic may be my favorite part. I pop the pod into the machine and it goes drip, drip, drip, then a strong current of coffee crashes into the cup, followed by the crema to solidify its existence. I raise my espresso cup to my lips and take a moment to bask in its intoxicating scent. L’eau De Cafe. A scent so nice that it must be labelled as something more than just coffee. And once I take a sip, I’ve then sealed my happiness with its bitter taste.
Clearly, I’m daydreaming about the dang coffee so, I decide to move forward with the Dolce pod. What have I got to lose? I either give it a chance and perhaps fall in love all over again or it ends up being disappointing and I move on. Either way, I’ll have gained experience points in this Nespresso game and I can never say no to a challenge.
Your everyday girl,
Sara
P.S Third times a charm – the Dolce is perfect.
P.P.S I am currently reading The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. I’m halfway done and I have no idea how it will end. Thank you to my lovely friend, Lily, for giving me this read.
