Coffee The Connector

Coffee The Connector

I drink coffee almost every day. I’ve been told it can lower my magnesium level, but that’s why they sell the supplement in stores, right? So, I drink my coffee and then I take my magnesium, but my magnesium intake is much lower than my caffeine intake. I’m still stuck trying to balance out the two.

My balancing act is in the hands of me, a creature of habit. I will take my supplements for as long as I can remember, but once another healthy habit becomes a part of my routine, I just forget to take them. But coffee is designed to be unforgettable.

Coffee raises the heart rate, but it also raises the spirit. Why do you think I want to visit cafes? Why do you think I share the photos of freshly brewed coffee in a plain old cup? Why do you think it excites me to start up my coffee machine nearly every day?

Here I am drinking a capuccino at 9pm.

How can I ever let go of something that makes me happy? Magnesium is important and definitely needed, but it comes and goes in my life. Coffee is a constant. It’s been there for me during hard times, slow times, and the best of times. You know how in Stranger Things, we have Will The Wise or Holly The Heroic? Well, I think Coffee needs to have its own title.

So here it is: Coffee The Connector.

Coffee is more than caffeine, it is the smooth (and very bitter) bridge that allows us to stay connected with society, friends, and even the amazing baristas who take the time to brew perfection. It is the quiet drink that sits on the wooden table waiting to be sipped by the reader who can’t put down a good book. It is the uplifting drink that allows artists to create and backtrack, but then create again. It is the emotional support drink for friends debriefing the latest drama that has come up…again.

Coffee does not abandon those in need. I’ve had a hard time letting go of certain friends and even relatives in the past few years. I will never have full closure from certain relationships, so I decided to reset boundaries. Ever since doing so, I have felt nothing but fresh, like the smell of ground coffee beans first thing in the morning.

Coffee The Connector heated me up on those days when I made choices that were best for me, reconnecting myself to my values. So no matter the occasion, coffee has always been present.

You might be thinking, this girl couldn’t possibly be posting her final blog of the year as an ode to coffee! Well, yes, yes she is. If 2025 has taught me anything it is this: life is short so be kind, create lots, and do what you love. I started this blog with my love for coffee and I will continue to allow my caffeinated thoughts to drip on to these (digital) pages.

My dear readers, I wish you a very happy 2026. I hope you get to celebrate in whatever way you choose. And if you are staying indoors like me, I hope you are also watching the last episode ever of Stranger Things.

Thank you for being here with me.

Your everyday girl,

Sara
